Orientation Discrepancies in Lake Buoy Wind Direction Data

All sites with buoys (SUGG, BARC, FLNT, CRAM, LIRO, TOMB, BLWA, PRPO, PRLA, TOOK), need to be verified for appropriate wind direction data from the Wind speed and direction on lakes on-buoy (DP1.20059.001).
NEON has identified discrepancies in field records that capture the installed orientation of the 2D wind monitor seated atop the buoy mast, meaning some sites report incorrect wind directions. Note that the windspeed data stream of this data product remains unaffected by this issue.
In the meanwhile, we suggest data users refer to the nearby, on-shore 2D wind speed and direction data product (DP1.00001.001) for more accurate wind direction data.
