About Keith

As part of the Airborne Observation Platform (AOP) team, Keith is responsible for the development and validation of algorithms to convert the raw airborne instrument data into science products with a primary focus on the waveform lidar instrument and products. He has 15+ years professional experience in satellite imaging, instrument calibration, image processing, and Earth remote sensing.

Prior to joining NEON, Keith worked at DigitalGlobe where he was responsible for the radiometric calibration of the QuickBird, WorldView-1, and WorldView-2 commercial imaging satellites. Keith received a B.S. in Imaging and Photographic Technology from the Rochester Institute of Technology, an M.S. in Optical Sciences from the University of Arizona, and a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering Sciences from the University of Colorado. Keith's Ph.D. dissertation is entitled: "Remote Sensing of Vegetation Species Diversity: The Utility of Integrated Airborne Hyperspectral and Lidar Data" and investigated the generation of ecosystem maps using remote sensing data. His research interests include the use of airborne and satellite hyperspectral and lidar data to characterize vegetation chemistry, function, structure, and biodiversity.
