About Amy

Amy Jacobs is the Field Operations Manager for Domains 15 (Great Basin) and 12 (Northern Rockies) and is based in Salt Lake City, UT. Amy spent the early part of her career sailing throughout the Pacific Ocean and the Ross Sea (Antarctica) studying the effect of environmental stressors on marine bacterioplankton. She has also worked in the Mediterranean Sea, the Lakes of the Poconos, and the Gulf of Mexico. Transitioning from large-scale oceanographic studies, Amy managed an ecosystem restoration program for the State of Florida where she led the development of projects to restore coastal estuarine habitats such as oyster and seagrass communities, salt marshes, and coastal dune systems throughout the Florida Panhandle. Amy holds a B.S. in Marine Biology from the University of West Florida, a B.S. in Psychology from Florida State University, and a M.S. in Biology from the University of West Florida.

Hailing from Florida, Amy was excited to join the NEON team in the Intermountain West where, when she is not leading her team of intrepid field scientists, she enjoys roaming the mountains of Utah mountain biking, hiking, and kayaking with her husband and two dogs.
