About Beth

Beth is the Field Operations Manager for NEON Domain 08 - Ozarks Complex. She is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the 6 field sites there in Alabama, and year-round physical and organismal sampling, managing the D08 field science team.

Beth grew up in Michigan, immersed in a childhood spent on the water. She attended the University of West Alabama, where she earned a B.S. in Marine Biology, with extensive studies and research at Dauphin Island Sea Lab. After graduation she lived in Pensacola, Florida where she spent many years as a toxicologist, then began working as an Environmental Specialist at The Florida Department of Environmental Protection conducting coastal habitat restoration and monitoring. Beth began working as The Northwest Florida Aquatic Preserves Manager, overseeing over 45,000 acres of state-owned submerged lands. The management of these areas included collaborating with many stakeholders in Alabama and Florida to implement projects and partnerships at the local and national scale. Beth’s involvement with regional and national partners, as well as being able to go back to her Alabama “roots”, sparked her interest in NEON where she became D08 Manager in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 2023.
