About Tanya
Tanya Maslak is the Engagement Lead for the NEON Program, managing the Observatory’s engagement, education, and outreach activities since she joined NEON in March 2024. She has worked with Battelle since 2016, where prior to NEON, she was on the health research team, offering an interdisciplinary approach to better understanding and informing decision-making to address human dimensions of environmental change, both domestically and internationally. Tanya offers extensive experience in interagency coordination; planning and managing stakeholder engagement efforts (e.g., needs assessments and cross-sectoral stakeholder dialogue sessions); planning and implementing capacity-building activities (e.g., webinars, workgroups, trainings, information exchange programs, and workshops); and developing technical reports or translating technical information into communication materials for informed decision-making and public outreach. She has managed or served as a technical contributor to projects for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. Department of State, and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
Tanya received her B.S. in Environmental and Forestry Biology from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse, NY. She received her M.P.H. from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health with a concentration in Environmental and Occupational Health, and most recently earned her M.C.R.P. from The Ohio State University’s Knowlton School, where she focused on planning for sustainable development and climate resilient communities.
