This is an update to the previous post concerning sonde depth data from the buoys, which are currently not corrected for barometric pressure effects.
Beginning with the spring 2021 buoy deployments, NEON has permanently parked the sonde at 0.5 m below the water surface at TOMB & BLWA, the two rivers in Alabama, and PRPO & PRLA, the two shallow polymictic lakes in North Dakota. The profilers at SUGG and BARC, the two shallow polymictic lakes in Florida will also be parked at 0.5 m below the water surface this summer.
NEON plans to fully resolve the sonde depth data issue during the upcoming data pipeline redesign process by integrating barometric pressure corrections into the future algorithm. An update will be provided on this issue by June 1, 2022.
