NEON will be at the NSF INCLUDES Conference: Bringing Conversations on Diversity and Inclusion in Data Science to the Environmental Sciences, which is a 3-day conference with the ultimate goal of developing a networked improvement community (i.e., Environmental Data Sciences Inclusion Network) that works to ensure inclusion across environmental data science professions.

With this Dear Colleague Letter (DCL), the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Division of Biological Infrastructure (DBI) and Division of Environmental Biology (DEB) within the Directorate for Biological Sciences (BIO) announce an intent to support Research Coordination Networks (RCNs, NSF 17-594) to coordinate new and existing groups of scientists conducting research enabled by the National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON).

Proposals for the NSF-funded Macrosystems Biology and NEON-Enabled Science are due February 25, 2019. The Macrosystems Biology and NEON-Enabled Science (MSB-NES): Research on Biological Systems at Regional to Continental Scales program will support quantitative, interdisciplinary, systems-oriented research on biosphere processes and their complex interactions with climate, land use, and invasive species at regional to continental scales as well as training activities to enable groups to conduct Macrosystems Biology and NEON-Enabled Science research.

The Macrosystems Biology and NEON-Enabled Science (MSB-NES) Program of the National Science Foundation will host a Webinar on Feb 6 at 2pm EST to explain the new MSB-NES solicitation (NSF 19-538) and the Dear Colleague Letter (NSF 19-031) encouraging proposals for Research Coordination Networks.

THE ASPRS 2019 Annual Conference and International Lidar Mapping Forum will again take place with the ASPRS Annual Conference, providing a space to access strategic contacts, cutting-edge hardware and software, and expert education in the geospatial technology market.

Learn to work with repeat-photography images to study landscape changes. This workshop is a joint effort between the PhenoCam network and the National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON) to share recently developed tools facilitating access to, and analysis of, camera imagery and higher-order data products available through PhenoCam.

We will explore these NEON Surface Atmosphere Exchange resources and solicit input to guide development of NEON SAE community resources for 2019. Additionally, the workshop offers hands-on tutorials utilizing eddy4R vignettes in a cloud-computing environment.

The Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections (SPNHC) and Biodiversity Information Standards (TDWG) will hod a joint conference from 25 August to 1 September in Dunedin, New Zealand.

This workshop will focus on decadal synthesis, combined with the integration of flux measurements with other data sources (remote sensing, inventories, tree rings, phenology, etc.). We will also explore priorities for future eddy-covariance research, and outline a general synthesis of advances over the past decade.

The Goldschmidt Conferences™ were started in 1988 by the international Geochemical Society (GS) to provide a forum for its members to discuss their latest research. NEON scientist,Samantha Weintraub will be presenting at the conference.

This workshop will provide an introduction to discovering, accessing and preparing a variety of NEON data for your research, primarily using R.

As NEON enters full operations, we are excited to see that the observatory will be featured in over two dozen sessions at this year's ESA annual meeting. We are also providing a number of opportunities for attendees to get to know more about this ambitious and first-of-its-kind ecological observatory.

The Sixth Interagency Conference on Research in the Watersheds (ICRW) will explore research and adaptive management that aims to highlight the challenges of sustaining working watersheds and their components that are involved in economic production such as agriculture, urban development, forestry, mining/energy extraction, and outdoor recreational activities, while balancing issues that arise from these complex ecosystems and landscapes.
